Ralph B. Abrams Scholarship

This scholarship provides a one-time award to a high achieving Senior. Award amounts are subject to vary at any time.

Eligibility Criteria

Recipient must be a Senior with a 3.5 or higher GPA. Students who are not current recipients of Letters and Science multi-year scholarships are given priority.

How to Apply

Apply for Letters and Science scholarships by using your campus NetID and password to log into the Scholarships@UW-Madison application portal ( ) and answer all the questions in the 'Match Scholarships' section to find currently available applications. In addition, scholarships with a financial need component will require a completed FAFSA form on file with UW-Madison.

Selection Criteria

Completed applications are evaluated using donor criteria and the College of Letters & Science criteria (academic excellence, community service, leadership, diversity, strength of character, and creative accomplishment). Successful applicants should also have strong recommendations and well written essays.

Donor Information

The fund was made possible by a bequest from Ralph B. Abrams. Both Ralph and Ruth, his wife, were 1922 graduates of the UW-Madison; he in Chemical Engineering and she in Letters & Science.

Award Information

This is a one-time $1,000 scholarship. Selected recipients are notified in early December with payments posted to the student account in the beginning of the Spring term.

Conditions of Award

Recipients must be in good standing and maintain full-time enrollment in the College of Letters and Science.
