Their support of students in the FISC program is an extension of their continued outreach and assistance to the farming industry.

Walter H. Ebling began a 33 year career at the Wisconsin crop and livestock reporting service and went on to be named agricultural statistician in charge of the Wisconsin office of the Federal Crop and Livestock Estimates Service. He developed...
Walter H. Ebling began a 33 year career at the Wisconsin crop and livestock reporting service and went on to be named agricultural statistician in charge of the Wisconsin office of the Federal Crop and Livestock Estimates Service. He developed a state system of data collection not provided for under the federal reporting program and pioneered issuance of farm statistic reference bulletins for all counties in Wisconsin. He was also a Professor in the Agricultural Economics department on campus. Dr. Ebling established this scholarship in honor of his brother, Albert Adam Ebling, to recognize his life as a Wisconsin farmer.
Recipients for this FISC scholarship must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Charles Eckburg was born in Peshtigo, WI. He attended UW Madison as a student and later became an instructor as well. His professional career included positions held at the Borden company: Vice-President, President of the Cheese Division, and a member of the Board of Directors. Charles was also a director of Gateway Industries of Chicago, IL, Brinkman Cheese Co. of Fenimore, WI, and Twin Town Cheese Co. of Almena, WI. Charles also earned an appointment to the U.S. Department of Agriculture to conduct research on Swiss Cheese.
FISC recipients must be preparing for careers in the Dairy Industry. The award is renewable and a minimum GPA of 2.75 is required.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Maury's career included: radio farm director and professor at UW-Madison, earning a Ph.D. at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and Director of the Farm and Industry Short Course.

Walter Ruben grew up on the family farm with his parents and eight siblings and graduated from Fountain City High School in 1925. He attended the University of Wisconsin Farm and Industry Short Course program and returned to the farm where he introduced and produced the first hybrid seed corn in Buffalo County and was among the earliest hybrid seed corn growers in Wisconsin.
