The Department of Philosophy manages 2 undergraduate scholarship funds for philosophy majors.  Each spring majors can submit one set of application materials to be considered for both awards.  Graduating seniors are not eligible to apply.

Application Information

Application materials are due directly to the department each Spring in early April.  A call for applications with instructions will be made to all eligible majors in the Spring.

Scholarships Descriptions
The scholarship award will lend financial support to one student majoring in Philosophy.
The scholarship award will lend financial support to one student majoring in Philosophy.
Eligible applicants must be Philosophy majors who have maintained at least 3.5 GPA for the past two terms. An aptitude for the study of philosophy and a desire for philosophical knowledge are of primary importance while financial need is of secondary importance. Graduating seniors are NOT eligible for this scholarship award. The following written material is required as part of the scholarship application: <ul> <li>The 1-2 page essay.</li> <li>A Philosophy Department recommendation.</li> <li>A copy of the applicant's academic transcript.</li> <li>A statement describing the applicant's financial status.</li> </ul> Further requirements are detailed in the call for applications.

Undergraduates must be declared philosophy majors with academic merit, financial need, and have U.S. citizenship. regarding financial status are required. Other requirements are provided in detail in the call for applications.
